Martha E. Beard

Martha E. Beard, 94, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:56 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at her residence.

Martha was a homemaker and had worked at P. R. Mallory Mfg. in Du Quoin. She had also helped her brother with motel housekeeping.

She was a member of the Old Du Quoin Baptist Church at Du Quoin and the Perry County Gold Plate.

She was born April 3, 1918 at Du Quoin, Ill. the daughter of Marion and Maude (Houston) Varnum.

Martha married Lawrence W. Beard on April 22, 1938 at Perryville, Mo. and he preceded her in death on June 14, 1998.

She is survived by four daughters- Reathel Beard of Du Quoin, Martha Poiter of Du Quoin, Nancy Buskohl of Chester and Brenda Segelken and husband Phillip of Du Quoin, sister- Mary Heisler of Du Quoin, nine grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and her special dog, Savannah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-Connie Eugene Beard, one sister, seven brothers and one sister in infancy.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Ted Clark officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
