Nelle Minor (Barton) Maguire
Nelle Minor (Barton) Maguire, 93, formerly of Du Quoin, passed away on Oct. 29, 2012, at Forest Creek Village Nursing Home in Indianapolis.
Nelle was born on Nov. 22, 1918 in Greenfield, Ill. to MD and Amy(Hartsock) Barton. On Aug. 2, 1942, she married W. Gene Maguire, and he preceded her in death on June 16, 1964.
Nelle is survived by her son, Ron Maguire and daughter-in-law, Toni, of Indianapolis. Nelle was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church, and had a strong faith in God. She had a love for all types of crafts; macramé, needlepoint and cross-stitch, as well as puzzles, games and TV game shows. She loved to travel and gave each of her grandchildren a love of travel and, more importantly, time spent with family and friends. She had a generous spirit and loved the giving of gifts as much as the receiving. She worked in the restaurant business for most of her young adult life and later on in life she was a volunteer at Marshall Browning Hospital, as well as Meals on Wheels.
Arrangements are pending for Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at Dodworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home in Macomb, Ill., with burial at Oakwood Cemetery, also in Macomb. Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund at www.jdrf.org.
