Bette June Barron
Bette June Barron, 94, of Du Quoin, passed away at 10:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at the Fair View Nursing Center in Du Quoin.
Bette was a homemaker and had owned and operated Barron's Clothing Store for several years.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Du Quoin. She had been a member of the Perry County Golf Course. She was a avid golfer and had won many championship flight golf tournaments. Bette loved to cross stitch and quilt. She also loved playing the piano and organ.
She was a graduate of the Du Quoin High School and attended Lockyear Business College in Evansville, Ind.
Bette had worked as a secretary for Kellogg Sales in St. Louis, Mo. Bette and her husband Phil purchased Werners Clothing on March 1, 1956 and changed the name to Barron's and she operated it until September 1980.
She was born March 12, 1918 in Du Quoin, Ill. the daughter of Val and Gussie (Dyer) Rogers.
Bette married Phil V. Barron on Feb. 26, 1939 at the First Christian Church in Du Quoin and he preceded her in death March 7, 1959.
She is survived by a daughter- Barbara Conte and husband Bob of Du Quoin, a son- Robert (Bob) Barron and special friend Ramona Santiago of Virginia, six grandchildren- Bob Conte and wife Trinia of Nebraska, Brad Conte and wife Michele of Arizona, Joelle Cooper and husband Bret of Nevada, Jason Barron and wife Wendy of Nebraska, Mark Barron and wife Margi of Virginia, Todd Barron of Florida, 11 great grandchildren- Brandon Conte and wife Kelcie, Bri Roland, Garrett Conte, Nicholas Conte, Zachary Conte, Allison Barron, Ashley Barron, Caitlynn Cooper, Kelsey Cooper, Ty Barron, Blake Barron, two great great grandchildren- Alivia Conte and Keegan Roland, special friends- Pam Lawhorn and Daisy Sims and loyal companion- Abby.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son- Donald Gene Barron.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 at the Searby Fuenral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Russell Ragovin officiating.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
