Melba Ruth Joost

Melba Ruth Joost, 82, of Steeleville passed away at 12:25 pm, Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at the Memorial Hospital in Chester.

Melba was born in Steeleville on June 11, 1930, the daughter of William H. and Irma Bollmann Mueller. She married Roger L. Joost on Oct. 29, 1950 in Steeleville. He preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 1997.

Melba is the retired owner of Joost Market in Steeleville. Melba is a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Steeleville; an active member of the St. Mark's Choir and Priscilla Club; a member and former president of B.B.K. American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 480, Steeleville.

Melba is survived by one son, Paul Joost (fiancee Linda Presley) of Steeleville; two daughters, Nancy (Kevin) Noennig of Perryville, Mo., and Phyllis (William) Miller of Beardstown; five grandchildren, Andrea (Christopher) Braun, Kyle (Sara) Noennig, Brett (Michelle) Miller, Chad Miller and Jeff Miller; one great-granddaughter, Miley Miller; one brother, Glenn Mueller of Chicago; and a special friend, Ed Powley.

Melba was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Marvin, Ralph and Harold.

Funeral service were 1 pm, Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Steeleville with Rev. Dr. Alan W. Janneke officiating. Burial followed in Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville.

Visitation was at Wilson's Funeral Home, Steeleville, from 4 to 8 pm Sunday, Nov. 25, and on Nov. 26 from 7:30 until 11 a.m. and then from Noon to 1 pm at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Mark's Lutheran Church General Fund.
