Arthur Gauvain
Arthur Gauvain, 85 years, of Waterloo, Ill., passed away on Nov. 29, 2012 at Missouri Baptist Hospital, Town and Country, Mo.
He was born Oct. 13, 1927, in Lynn, Mass., son of the late Arthur J. and Helen (Marr) Gauvain. He was married to Christine (Dalman) Ritter-Gauvain, who survives him. They were married May 5, 2007, in Du Quoin, Ill.
Arthur served as a Navy Seal in the U. S. Navy, and was a Veteran of WW II and the Korean War, was a member of National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARF) and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Columbia, Ill. He was a retired civil servant working for the U.S. Government as an analyst.
Also surviving are step-children, Jeff (Regina) Ritter of Manchester, Mo., Carla (Joe) Prusacki of Sterling, Va. and John (Cheryl) Ritter of Columbia, Ill., step-grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Jessica Ritter, Josh and Madeline Ritter and a sister, Patricia Scally of Lynn, Mass., nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Constance (Cobb) Gauvain and a brother, Michael Gauvain.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Columbia, Ill. Following visitation, a funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Carl Scherrer, officiating. Interment will follow in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
