Beautiful New Artwork in Tamaroa Community Center
Once especially nice new feature at Tamaroa Community Center is the wooden cut-out made by Nelson Knapp for the gymnasium. The wall art can be removed when the gym needs to be repainted then put up again.
Recent improvements to the building include a new roof, sealing/coating/painting of the interior and exterior of the building, new mats and refinishing the floor of the gymnasium. The improvements mean some changes for those who rent the space. Street shoes, food, chairs and tables are no longer allowed in the gym. Groups used to rent the front and gymnasium separately. Now gym rental will include the other space at the same price.
Work on the Community Center continues. Village employees are currently working on a drainage system to pull rainwater away from the building. Trustee Kirk Pestka is negotiating with Pepsi Co. to get new scoreboards for the gym and possibly the ball fields, as well. A structural engineer will examine the unused portion of the building and give a preliminary report. The board hopes to renovate the unused section in the near future.
