Betty Lucille Atkins

Betty Lucille Atkins, 82, of Du Quoin, passed away at 5:50 a.m., Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer.

Betty was a homemaker. She was a member of the Christian Church in Tamaroa. She was a wonderful, caring wife, mother and grandmother.

She was born June 8, 1930 at Tamaroa, Ill., the daughter of Leonard and Goldie (Pitchford) Keller.

She married William Dale Atkins on Aug. 4, 1949 at Paragould, Ark. and he survives.

She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, four sons - Brian (Kay) Atkins, Jimmie Dean (Sherry) Atkins, Wade Atkins, and Bill (Carmen) Atkins, all of Du Quoin, seven grandchildren - Travis (Tina) Atkins, Ericka Atkins, Sacha (Jeremy) Cobin, Amber (Nathan) Crain, Zachary Atkins, Angela (Michael) Draege II, and Valerie Atkins, all of Du Quoin, seven great grandchildren - Seth Atkins, Reese Atkins, Savanah Cobin, Riley Atkins, Kiera Atkins, Briar Crain, Alivia Crain and a new great grandbaby will be born in May, two brothers - Charles Keller and Bob Keller and two sisters - Kathryn Kehoe and Jessie Pestka and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one daughter-in-law.

Per Mrs. Atkins' request, there will be no services held.

Friends may make memorials to the Marshall Browning Hospital Tree of Life and will be accepted at the funeral home.
