Charles G. Harsy
Charles G. 'Dutch' Harsy, 92, of Du Quoin, passed away at 4:37 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012 at his residence.
Dutch had been a lifelong farmer and had worked at Barber Sawmill for 50 years. He was a member of the St. Johns United Church of Christ in Du Quoin. He was a Perry County Road Commissioner for 20 years and was on the Farm Bureau Board. He was a member of the Elks, Eagles and I.O.O.F.
He was born Feb. 28, 1920 at Du Quoin, Ill., the son of Adam and Amelia (Bahre) Harsy.
He married Vivian Betty Stowers on Sept. 16, 1944 at the St. Johns United Church of Christ in Du Quoin and she preceded him in death on Jan. 3, 2004.
He is survived by one son - Denny Harsy and wife Peggy of Du Quoin, four grandchildren - Julie Bingemann and husband Chris of Ponte Vedra, Fla., Steven Harsy and wife Jennifer of Du Quoin, Michael Harsy and wife Amanda of Du Quoin and Joanie Lackey and husband Tommy of Newborn, Ga. and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son - Richard Alan Harsy, two brothers - Bill Harsy and Adam Harsy and two sisters - Mary Rogers and Eileen McCuen.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
