Security Alert at Pinckneyville Junior High

The Pinckneyville Jr. High School was on an elevated security lock-down for the second day this morning with law enforcement officers in the building and squad cars on the parking lot after an alleged threat against staff members was found on Wednesday.

The newspaper understands the incident may have included a list of targeted staff members.

Superintendent Tim O'Leary confirmed the incident at 8 a.m. this morning and when asked if the threat was serious his immediate comment was "hopefully not." He said every security protocol is in place and he hopes to issue a press release on the incident later today. He said that because of last week's incident at Newtown, Conn everyone is on edge.
