The big dig: Main Street water line construction begins

Construction began on Tuesday on the start of nearly $2 million worth of new water main installations on Main Street--and later South Washington Street--in Du Quoin. The work began near the intersection of East Main Street and North Line Street. The new 6-inch water main will run all the way from Line Street west under the railroad tracks in the middle of downtown Du Quoin to North Hickory Street. The work includes new fire hydrants and residential and business connections.
