L.C. McDaniel Jr.

Louis Charles McDaniel Jr., age 86, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 at 10:15 p.m. in Fair Acres Rehabilitation and Care Center, Du Quoin, Ill.

Charlie was born on Nov. 17, 1926 in Anna, Ill., a son to Louis and Meva (Smith) McDaniel. On Nov. 5, 1950, he married Gayle Cleland in Cutler, Ill. and she survives. He was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad for over 40 years as a telegrapher, agent/operator and customer service representative working most of those years in Pinckneyville, Ill. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. and the Masonic Lodge, Pinckneyville, Ill., Mitchell Lodge #85. Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting, boating, water skiing but he especially loved taking care of his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Gayle McDaniel of Pinckneyville, Ill.; three children, Lynne (Paul) Jones of Du Quoin, Ill., Bret (Jane) McDaniel of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Neal (Bridget) McDaniel of Du Quoin, Ill.; four grandchildren, Derick (Stacey) Jones, Colin Jones, Keri McDaniel and Chad McDaniel; a brother, Bob (Avis) McDaniel of Leesburg, Fla and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Jim Barnett officiating. Interment will be in Cutler Cemetery, Cutler, Ill.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with Masonic service at 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
