Norbert Dean Brown

Norbert Dean Brown, age 73, of Elkville, Ill., passed away on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 at 12:38 p.m. in Marshall Browning Hospital, Du Quoin, Ill.

Norbert was born on Nov. 20, 1939 in Du Quoin, Ill., a son to Robert and Nina (Fisher) Brown. He was a member of Smith Memorial AME Zion Church, Du Quoin, Ill. and was a fork lift operator at MCA, Pinckneyville, Ill., retiring after 25 years. Norbert enjoyed attending church, cooking and was a talented piano player and singer. He was a friend to many and never met a stranger.

Survivors include four brothers, Leonard (Kathy) Brown of Chicago, Ill., Gerald B. (Wilma) Brown of Murphysboro, Ill., Charles E. Brown of Du Quoin, Ill. and Johnny M. Brown of Royalton, Ill.; four sisters, Mary C. Clark of Du Quoin, Ill., Alvenia Peters of Du Quoin, Ill., Selevia (Richard A.) Myers of Carbondale, Ill. and Terry L. (Larry E.) Dunklin of Du Quoin, Ill.; several dear nieces; nephews; cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ronald L. Brown; three sisters, Ruth L. Robinson, Rose M. Newcomb and Reda L. Smith and one sister-in-law, Jodi Brown.

Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, Ill. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Theresa Flagg officiating.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, Ill. on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
