Karen Sue Walker

Karen Sue Walker, nee Beard, 72, of Fredericktown, Mo., passed away at 10:18 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013 at the Stockhoff Nursing Home in Fredericktown, Mo.

Karen had been a claims clerk and secretary for State Farm in Scottsdale, Ariz. She moved from Scottsdale to Fredericktown in 2005. She was of the Baptist faith. Karen loved her dogs and cats.

She was born Feb. 5, 1941 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of Everett and Gertrude E. (Puterbaugh) Beard Sr.

She married Jim Walker in 1972 at Arizona and he preceded her in death in 2003.

She is survived by two brothers - Dale Beard and wife Bonnie of Bonne Terre, Mo. and James Beard and wife Pat of Raymore, Mo., her twin sister - Sharon Wernecker and husband Terry of Fredericktown, Mo., nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers - Everett Beard Jr. and Eugene Beard.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Merle Fullerton officiating.

Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Old Du Quoin Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Old Du Quoin Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
