Shirley E. Hamburger

Shirley E. Hamburger, 76, of Du Quoin, passed away at 11:32 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 at the Fairview Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Du Quoin.

Shirley was a homemaker and had worked for 17 years at the Du Quoin Packing Company. She had also been a waitress at Brock's Walgreen and had worked at B & J True Value. She was a member of the Du Quoin Gospel Assembly Church where she had sung in the choir and played in the band. She also had written for the church paper, served in the dinning room and was an usherette.

She was born Feb. 5, 1937 at Du Quoin, Ill. the daughter of Lester O. and Stella (Tucker) Brock.

Shirley married William F. Hamburger on Sept. 7, 1962 at Du Quoin, Ill. and he survives.

She is survived by her husband Bill of Du Quoin, three sons- Gary Hamburger and wife Kathleen, Larry Hamburger and Dennis Hamburger and wife Lesley all of Du Quoin, 10 grandchildren- Alex Tilley, Loren Tilley, Jonathan Hamburger, Joshua Hamburger, Brock Adam Hamburger, Ella Hamburger, Brandon Hamburger, Bryce Hamburger, Hannah Hamburger and Emily Hamburger all of Du Quoin, two sisters- Mary Lou Emling and Virginia Todaro both of Du Quoin, brother- Jesse Brock of Belleville.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother in infancy.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013 at the Du Quoin Gospel Assembly Church with Bro. Gaylen Holden and Bro. Dennis Fitzsimmons officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church on Wednesday.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Gospel Assembly Church or Tip Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
