Steve Allen King

Steve Allen King, 57, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:35 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Steve had first worked for Old Ben Coal Mine. He then owned and operated Fredericks Service Station in Du Quoin for 20 years. He then worked in belt maintenance at the American Coal Company Mine. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin. He was a member of the Du Quoin Knights of Columbus and UMW of A.

He was born Jan. 30, 1956 at Du Quoin, Ill., the son of Gerald L. and Dimple M. (Harp) King.

Steve married Jeanette Sue Davison on Oct. 14, 1978 at Du Quoin and she preceded him in death on Nov. 20, 2005.

He is survived by two sons- Tyler Allen King and wife Maegan of Du Quoin and Christopher Lee King of Mulkeytown, special friend- Ceila Tripp, mother-in-law and father-in-law- John and Jeannie Davison of Du Quoin, brothers and sisters- Geraldine Smith and husband Dick of Port Orange, Fla., Ronnie King of Phoenix, Ariz., Doris Walters of Springfield, Chuck King of Sesser, Rick King and Vickie Holmes of Du Quoin, Gerald King and wife Jeana of West Frankfort, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother- Michael Oliver.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Fr. Nick Junker officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin. A prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Du Quoin Knights of Columbus and will be accepted at the funeral home.
