Kern's role in Enyart office will focus on southern Illinois projects
Perry County Clerk Kevin Kern said his role at the outset in Democrat Congressman Bill Enyart's Belleville office will be as project manager.
Every year, millions of dollars flow from Congress into districts across the nation to fund capital development projects which require funding procurement and implementation. There are also dozens of programs that fund things like homeland security for police and fire departments. Kern will be involved in working with communities and the state to see that this work is fluid and correctly accomplished. Kern is a Du Quoin resident, but said that because of the hour and 15 minute drive to Belleville he expects the work to require that he move. Enyart, 63, is the U.S. Representative for Illinois' 12th congressional district in Southern Illinois and replaces retired Congressman Jerry Costello. He assumed office on Jan. 3, 2013. Enyart is a former attorney and Adjutant General of Illinois.
