John A. Logan trustee Don Brewer to finish term; his wife's cancer is in full remission
John A. Logan College trustee Don Brewer--a well-respected lifetime Southern Illinois educator--said Thursday he has no intention of stepping away from his remaining four years on the board.
He takes issue with remarks from Logan candidate Mike Vanhorn that he may retire early because of his wife's health.
Brewer said his wife is fine--in full remission from a recent cancer--and that she is insisting that her husband do what he had done his entire life. Serve.
Brewer did step away from his role as trustee back in 2007 when his wife faced some health issues. Those were resolved and Brewer ran for election in 2011 and won handily.
He is in the second year of his six-year term and said he is looking forward to serving the college and the families of Southern Illinois.
