George F. Piotrowski

George F. Piotrowski, 85, of Tamaroa, passed away at 3:35 p.m., Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the Washington County Hospital in Nashville, Ill.

George had been a mechanic for Milwaukee Road Railroad Company for over 30 years. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. George had been a Sergeant in the 301st H.M. Ordnance Company.

He was born Dec. 5, 1927 at Shiloh, Ill., the son of Aloysius and Rose (Siadek) Piotrowski.

He married Frances C. Michon on Nov. 29, 1952 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Tamaroa, two daughters - Patricia Zalas of Elk Grove Village, Ill. and Frances Valenta and husband James of Bolingbrook, Ill., two sisters - Teresa Hopp of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Florence Gill of Oakdale, Ill., five grandchildren - Michael Zalas, Christopher Browne, Mary Browne, Matthew Browne and Jessica Browne, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings - Joseph Bednarkewicz, Marie Bauza, John Piotrowski, Frank Piotrowski, Raymond Piotrowski and Bernice Kellerman.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa with Fr. Oliver Nwachukwu officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.

Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.

Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery at Tamaroa.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion and U.S. Army National Guard.

Friends may make memorials to the Immaculate Conception Cemetery or Masses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
