Mary Grace Adams
Mary Grace (Overton) Adams, 82, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:10 a.m., Thursday, April 11, 2013 at her home.
Mary was a homemaker and loved her flower gardens. Her family was her passion and she was surrounded by them daily. Her sense of humor and her positive outlook were such an inspiration to them all. She loved outwitting everyone with her excellent crossword skills. If anyone has ever been to her house you will remember that you were fed before you left and told stories of her life that would always end up in a laughter of tears.
She was born Sept. 6, 1930 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of John Evan and Emma Mae (Tucker) Overton.
She married Verl W. Adams on Jan. 21, 1947 at Du Quoin, Ill. and he preceded her in death on Aug. 19, 2005.
She is survived by one son - Darrell Adams and friend Marla Vancil of Du Quoin, three daughters - Brenda Graham and husband Dave of Du Quoin, Theresa Bolen and fiance Danny Colmenero of El Paso, Tex. and Idy Malott and friend Jim Trout of Du Quoin, three brothers - Roy Overton and wife Tiny of South Carolina, Harold Overton of Du Quoin and Thomas Dean Overton and wife Willa of O'Fallon, Mo., five grandchildren - David Graham and wife Gena, Eric Graham and wife Susan, Shanda Lively, Melissa Ford and husband Tim, Teggi Peters and husband Greg, 13 great grandchildren - Matt Graham, Carissa Graham, Nolan Graham, Jordan Graham, Brandon Graham, Denton Graham, Austin Ford, Dylan Ford, Cameron Ford, Elaina Lively, Sean Peters, Cortland Peters and Aria Peters and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers - John W. Overton, Donald W. Overton, and infant brother - Richard Overton and one sister - Idas M. Horton.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. C.L. McKinnies and Rev. Dan McKinnies officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the First United Pentecostal Church in Du Quoin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
