Mike Ward new president of District 300 board

The Du Quoin Board of Education Tuesday elected Du Quoin Chief of Police Michael Ward as its new president.

The board met in special session to seat new member Dennis Cole. Cole and incumbents Ward and Charles Rice took the oath of office. Rice was elected vice-president. John Vancil was re-elected board secretary. Business manager Cory Robbins was named treasurer.

Board president Larry Valier recognized the service of outgoing longtime board member Joseph Day. Day did not attend the meeting but a special presentation will be made to him in the near future.
