Gordon G. Feazel

Gordon G. Feazel, 82, of Du Quoin, passed away at 3:42 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the Fairview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Du Quoin.

Gordon had worked at Captain Coal Mine. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Du Quoin. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Gordon had served as Du Quoin City Commissioner of the water, sewer and street departments for two terms. He was a Mason and Past Master of the Masonic Lodge. Gordon had been a member of the Scottish Rites, Shriners, Hillbilly Shrine and Sword of Bunker Hill. He was also a member of the Elks, American Legion and V.F.W.

He was born Feb. 21, 1931 at Harrisburg, Ill., the son of Henry and Easter Lee (Burton) Feazel.

He married Bettie Kyle Gilbert on July 28, 1953 at Honolulu, Hawaii and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, one daughter - Cynthia K. Norris and husband Ronald of Du Quoin, two granddaughters - Dianna K. Stacks and husband Jaron of DeSoto and Thresa E. Ruff of Du Quoin, two great granddaughters - Cheyanne T. Ramsey and Tharon L. Stacks, both of DeSoto.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Per Gordon's wishes, cremation services were held.

Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, American Cancer Society or Du Quoin High School Booster Club and will be accepted at the funeral home.
