Pinckneyville inks new three-year police contract
The Pinckneyville City Council placed on file for public inspection a three-year contract with the Fraternal Order of Police union. The contract will be approved at the next regular meeting on May 28.
There were a few major changes to the previous contract:
• the city will no longer use part-time police officers to fill vaccines.
• the number of sick days accrued each year increased from 10 to 12. Bonus payments for using no sick leave during the year go from $400 to $500 and for using 20 hours or less of sick time per year from $200 to $250.
• increased the cap on annual comp time accrued from 120 to 240 hours per year and allow it to be carried over from year to year. Comp time is paid out at the rate at which it was accrued.
• deleted the 20 year longevity increase in pay.
• set the pay increases at 2.5 percent in Fiscal Year 2015 and 2016. There will be no increase in 2014.
