Norma Jean Caupert

Norma Jean Caupert, age 87, of Mt. Vernon, Ill., formerly of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at 4:46 p.m. in Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor, Mt. Vernon, Ill., surrounded by her loving family

Norma Jean was born on Feb. 20, 1926 in Pinckneyville, Ill., a daughter to Edgar and Mary (Bauersachs) Baker. On Nov. 1, 1944, she married Kenneth Caupert in Pigott, Ark. and he preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1993. Norma Jean was of the Presbyterian faith and enjoyed reading, traveling and working in her flower garden. In addition to taking care of her family, Norma Jean worked in the nursing field for several years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include a son Edgar (Linda) Caupert of Springfield, Ill.; four daughters, Carolyn (Scott) Stone of Benton, Ark., Sharon (Dan) Newsom of Memphis, Tenn., Ruth Davis of Mt. Vernon, Ill. and Lois Frost of Olive Branch, Miss.; nine grandchildren, Christopher Caupert, Cara (Chris) Barnett, Lisa (Mark) Barrett, Sherri (Tim) Riley, Kenneth (Deanna) Baldwin, Brian (Becky) Baldwin, Gregory Frost, Jason Frost and Marc (Kristin) Newsom and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and one son-in-law, Darrell Davis Sr.

Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Gerald Wright officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church, Pinckneyville, Ill.
