Ruth R. Mitchell

Ruth R. Mitchell, age 91, of Vincennes Ind., formerly of Venice Fla. and Christopher and Elkville areas, passed away June 7, 2013 in BridgPiont Nursing Home, Vincennes, Ind.

Ruth was born to Phillip and Luaria (McCoy) Rath March 27, 1922 in Vergennes Ill. She graduated from Elkville High School in 1940. She married John Mitchell May 21, 1943 in Carbondale, Ill.

Ruth retired from United States Steel and Carnegie Pension Fund in Pittsburg after 35 years; she was a member of the Eastern Star for 50 years and ladies of Venice Shrine.

She and her and husband, a retired Lt. Col of the U.S. Air Force and retired FBI special agent, traveled extensively see over 69 countries John preceded her in death on June 22,1999.

Survivors include her brother Charles Rath of Vincennes Ind., three nephews Barry Koerner, David Koerner and Phillip Rath, one niece Kimberly Modrowski.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister Virginia Koerner.

Graveside funeral service for Ruth Mitchell will be Thursday June 13,2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Masonic & IOOF Cemetery in Benton, Ill. with Rev. Jean Webster Officiating. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Gilbert Funeral Home Christopher, Ill.
