Robert Sylvester Rolando
Robert "Bob" Sylvester Rolando, 70, of Murphysboro, Illinois, passed away at 5:07 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Gravesite services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin with Rev. Gary Darnell officiating. Robert was born on Jan. 27, 1943, in Du Quoin, Illinois, to Sylvester Rolando and Virginia (Edison) Rolando.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict.
Mr. Rolando was the owner and operator of Rolando Electric in Murphysboro for 34 years. He was a member of the Illinois Electric Contractors Association.
Bob was a man of many trades, he loved to go fishing and he loved his four dogs--Boots, Buddy, Oscar and Lucy, who were his best friends.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Evelyn Pleasant Rolando of Murphysboro; two daughters, Barbara "Bobbie" Green of Mt. Vernon and Rhonda Pierce of Pinckneyville; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Morris and her husband Johnnie Morris of Grenada, Mississippi and Rebecca Hottes and her husband Dennis Hottes of Du Quoin, Ill. and two brothers George Rolando and his wife Linda Rolando of Pharr, Tex. and Gene Rolando and his wife Diane Rolando of Du Quoin, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.
