Du Quoin man charged with animal torture after knifing two cats

A Du Quoin man has been charged with animal torture, a Class III felony after he allegedly killed two cats in the McLean Street neighborhood of Du Quoin by slashing them with a knife.

Assistant Chief of Police Jamie Ellermeyer said during the investigation Robert T. Cummins, 40, was also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.
