Larry N. Kimmel

Larry N. Kimmel, age 75, of Freeburg, Ill., passed away on Monday, Aug. 12, 2013 at 12:35 a.m. in his home.

Larry was born on Sept. 3, 1937 in Elkville, Ill., a son to James and Violet Mae (Norris) Bennet. On Feb. 1, 1964, he married Betty Greenwood in Pinckneyville, Ill. and she survives. Larry attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Du Quoin, Ill., and served in the Army National Guard Reserves during the early 1960's. He worked at the General Motors Plant, St. Louis, Mo., first on the loading dock and then in paint control. Larry was a member of the U.A.W. where he served as a union representative, the Lions Club and Masonic Lodge #418, Freeburg, Ill. Larry loved his 1927 Hot Rod and spending time with his family. He'll "meet you at the well curb."

Survivors include his wife, Betty Kimmel of Freeburg, Ill.; one son, Larry N. Kimmel II of Orlando, Fla.; one daughter, Leslie (Jo) Wottowa of Freeburg, Ill.; five grandchildren, Cody Pees, Claire Pees, Gabe Kimmel, Sarah Kimmel and Michael (Becky) Mathes; one great-grandchild, Jacob Mathes; one brother, Jim (Jan) Kimmel of Austin, Tex. and one sister, Lynne (Murel) Cook of Austin, Tex.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son Keith Kimmel.

Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, Ill. on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Elkville Cemetery, Elkville, Ill.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Du Quoin, Ill. on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
