Petition packets for the March 18, 2014 General Primary Election will be available from the office of Perry County Clerk Josh Gross beginning Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Perry County will elect a county clerk, treasurer, and sheriff all for four-year terms. One county commissioner seat (the seat currently held by Jim Epplin) is also up for election to a six-year term in 2014.
Interested individuals must file a statement of candidacy, petition signatures from registered voters of their political party and other documents in order to become a candidate, Gross said.
Other officials to be elected in 2014 include State Representatives in the 115th and 116th Districts, a Representative in Congress in the 12th Congressional District, one U.S. Senator, Comptroller, Treasurer, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Lt Governor and Governor. In addition, precinct committeemen will be elected in the March primary.
Candidates for precinct committeemen must obtain 10 signatures from voters of their party. A Republican and Democrat will be elected from each of Perry County's 27 voting precincts. Petition forms for committeeman are also available in Gross's office.
Candidates for all offices must file between Nov. 25 and Dec. 2. The General Primary will be held March 18, 2014. Candidates nominated in the Primary will advance to the General Election to be held Nov. 6, 2014.
