Wilma D. McKinnies
Wilma D. McKinnies, 85, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013 at the Fairview Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Du Quoin.
Wilma was a homemaker and a minister's wife. She and her husband pastored the United Pentecostal Church in Du Quoin, Ill. for 40 years, retiring in 2002. Their son, Dan, became Pastor.
She was born Oct. 24, 1927 at Bush, Ill., the daughter of Willie and Mable (Hart) Cobb.
Wilma married C.L. McKinnies on Nov. 24, 1945 at Carbondale, Ill. and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, children- Pastor Dan McKinnies and wife Karla of Du Quoin, LaVonna Kerley of Du Quoin, Chuck McKinnies and wife Merla of Du Quoin, David McKinnies and wife Angie of Du Quoin, daughter-in-law- Marsha McKinnies of Du Quoin, son-in-law- Ed Hughes of Du Quoin, three sisters- Betty McCree of Carterville, Gilda Dean Tyner of Marion and Sue Keifer of Herrin, 16 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son- John McKinnies, daughter- Connie Hughes, three brothers- Lowell Cobb, Charlie Cobb and Ronnie Cobb and two great grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013 at the First United Pentecostal Church in Du Quoin with her son, Pastor Dan McKinnies officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from Noon until the time of service on Sunday at the First United Pentecostal Church in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the First United Pentecostal Church of Du Quoin or the Luke Evans Scholarship Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
