Carole Murry

Carole Murry, 78, of Tamaroa, Ill., passed away on Monday, Aug. 26, 2013 at 8:40 p.m. at her home.

Carole was born on May 25, 1935 in Tamaroa, Ill., a daughter to Walter and Mabel (Rice) Owens.

On Aug. 8, 1953, she married Bobby Lee Murry in Tamaroa, Ill. and he survives.

Carole was a member of Nine Mile Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years, served as WMU President, worked for over 40 years at the Du Quoin State Fair in various areas including Superintendent of Horticulture, was an election judge and assisted her husband for 33 years with his Asgrow Seed business. She devoted her life to being a loving Christian wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved nothing more than spending time cooking and playing games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending their school and sports events. She courageously fought ovarian cancer for two and a half years. She spent that time sharing her love of Christ with others.

She is survived by her husband of Tamaroa, one son, Randy (Melody) Murry of Heyworth, Ill.; two daughters, Cathy (David) Crain of McLeansboro and Pam (Marion) Logan of Tamaroa; one brother Robert L. Owens; eight grandchildren including Natasha (Bryce) Nattier of Dayton, Ohio, Justin Crain of Carterville, Ill., Tiffany Murry of Charleston, S.C., Seth (Elizabeth) Logan of Tamaroa, Alex (Heather) Crain of Franklin, Tenn., Nick Logan of Tamaroa, Mikah Murry of Heyworth, Ill. and Caleb Logan of Tamaroa. Great grandchildren include Elli, Andrew and Sofie Nattier of Dayton, Ohio and Tate McCoy Logan of Tamaroa. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Frank Owens; and five sisters, Peggy Brown, Margaret McCollum, Jacqueline Kuhnert, JoAnn Owens and Donna Bronke.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, Aug. 30, 2013 at the Nine Mile Baptist Church in Tamaroa, Ill. with Brother Noah Schlag officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the Nine Mile Baptist Church in Tamaroa, Ill. and from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday.

Interment will be at Paradise Cemetery at Tamaroa.

Memorial donations may be made to TIP Hospice. The family would like to extend their deep appreciation and love to Reenie Hurt and Sherry Quillman for their loving care given to Carole and to all of the family over the past year.
