Wilma M. Stewart
Wilma M. (Schaeffer) Stewart, age 94, of Coulterville, Ill., passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013 at 2:17 a.m. in Coulterville Care Center, Coulterville, Ill.
Wilma was born on Jan. 25, 1919 in the Oakdale area, a daughter to John and Edith (Williams) Schaeffer. On Sept. 7, 1935, she married Wilbur C. "Peck" Stewart in Centralia, Ill. and he preceded her in death on March 22, 1980. Wilma was a member of Calvary Church, Sparta, Ill. She was a lifetime member of the Perry County Home Bureau, which started in 1947 and developed into Perry County Home and Community Education (H.C.E.). Wilma was a lifelong member of the Swanwick Bethel Cemetery Association, Swanwick Picnic Association and quilting club. She had attended every picnic since it began in 1935 including this year. Wilma loved to play pinochle and was the last living member of a club she played in for more than 65 years. She had received an award for outstanding service as a leader in 4-H for 22 years. Wilma was a wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, a great homemaker and most of all was an excellent cook.
Survivors include two daughters, E. Jane (Mike) Chapman and Rita R. Stewart, all of Coulterville, Ill.; one son, William G. "Bill" Stewart of Pinckneyville, Ill.; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Jim) Locum of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Sara (Jon) Tanner of Coulterville, Ill., Jeanne (Ken) Smith of Belleville, Ill., Timothy Stewart of Columbia, Ill., Christopher Stewart of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Patrick (Carrie) Stewart of Waterloo, Ill.; ten great-grandchildren, Hayden, Devyn and Holden Locum, Grant, Lily, Jonah and Ezekiel Tanner, Emily Smith and Paul and Austin Stewart; a brother-in-law, Lauren Kloth of Columbia, Ill.; several nieces, nephews and cousins and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Beulah Kloth and Doris Cesa and her husband, Vince; two brothers, Warren Schaeffer and his wife, Helen and infant brother, William Schaeffer; her husband, Peck's two brothers and five sisters and their spouses.
Funeral services will be held at Calvary Church, Sparta, Ill. on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Tim McIntyre officiating. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick. Ill.
Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, Ill. on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at Calvary Church, Sparta, Ill. from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
