N. Marjorie Keene

N. Marjorie "Marge" Keene, age 89, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013 at 10:45 a.m. in Washington County Hospital, Nashville, Ill.

Marge was born on Aug. 30, 1924 in Denny Station, Perry County, Ill., a daughter to William Thomas and Nellie Mae (Morganthaler) Queen. On April 7, 1951, she married Loren J. Keene in Piggott, Ark. and he preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1978. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. and had worked as a seamstress at the garment factories in Pinckneyville, Du Quoin and Carbondale, Ill. Marge was a member of the I.L.G.W.U. and enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading, tending her flowers and spending time with her family.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Miller (Pat Smith) of Beaverton, Ontario, Canada, Karen (Joe) Malinski of Du Quoin, Ill. and Sharon (Gary) Johannes of Ashley, Ill.; two granddaughters, Stephanie Miller (boyfriend, Nathan Pence) of Terre Haute, Ind. and Alexandra "Alex" Johannes of Ashley, Ill.; a sister, Pauline Hopkins of Du Quoin, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Nadine Queen of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Klementine McMurry of Springfield, Ill. and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, William T. Queen; mother, Nellie Mae King; stepfather, Freeman King; husband, Loren J. Keene and three brothers, Sherman Queen, Harry Queen and Don Queen.

Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Charles Boling and Dr. Jay Lowder officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and at the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Thursday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Caring & Sharing Scholarship Fund or First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill.
