Betty Lou Ella Schmidgall
Betty Lou Ella (Walker) Schmidgall, age 78, of Tamaroa, Ill., passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013 at 7:07 p.m. in Marshall Browning Hospital, Du Quoin, Ill.
Betty was born on Jan. 1, 1935 in rural Du Quoin, Ill., a daughter to William Stanley and Eva Lillian (Kennedy) Walker. In 1951, she married Frank Elmer Schmidgall in Piggott Ark. and he preceded her in death in December 2006. Betty was a home maker and sold real estate for Shamrock Realty, Pinckneyville, Ill. for a short time. She was a member of Holts Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill., the Sweet Adeline's Ladies Quartet, and Pinckneyville Home Extension. Betty enjoyed gardening and outdoor activities. She loved to travel, crocheting and tending to her orchard.
Survivors include two sons, Frank E. (Susan) Schmidgall Jr. of Shoreham By Sea, England and Mark (Lynn) Schmidgall of Du Quoin, Ill.; two daughters, Roxanne (Kevin) Place of Tamaroa, Ill. and Patricia (James) Chapman Coello, Ill.; two brothers, Russell Walker of Du Quoin, Ill., Jerry (Janet) Walker of Brea, Calif.; one sister, Mary Jane Summers of Benton, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Eve (Shawn) Cooper, Andrew Schmidgall, Ethan Place, Haley Place, Hannah Schmidgall and Eli Schmidgall; two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Olivia Cooper and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, William Kay Walker; one sister, Eva Ruth McCauley and one niece, Susan Scarber.
Funeral services will be held at Holts Prairie Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Collin Hirsch officiating. Interment will be in Holts Prairie Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.
Friends may call at Holts Prairie Baptist Church on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
