Dist. 300 school budget hearing Thursday night

The Du Quoin Board of Education will take public comment during a budget hearing which will be part of its regular monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the middle school media center.

The 2013-2014 budget, which at this writing shows a $970,000 shortfall, is on file in the Dist. 300 Central Office up until the close of business on Thursday.

The board will review the proposed budget, then plans to adopt the budget at the meeting.

The board has engaged in ongoing discussions about how to pare that deficit. Some of the considerations are being planned out now for implementation next school year.

The agenda includes approval of school improvement plans and filling extracurricular positions.
