Frances V. McLuckie

Frances V. McLuckie, 93, of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Frances had worked as a secretary for 46 years working at the Du Quoin Coca-Cola plant and Du Quoin State Fair. She had also worked as an administrative secretary at Southern Illinois University, College of Science, retiring in 1984.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin.

She was born March 5, 1920 at Pinckneyville, the daughter of Joseph H. and Elizabeth (Surman) Martin.

Fran married John A. McLuckie on Dec. 23, 1967 at Du Quoin and he passed away March 23, 1977.

She is survived by two step children- Vickie Riedle of Ephrata, Penn. and John D. McLuckie of Ft. Collins, Colo., six step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews including three special nieces- Valerie Thayer, Kelley Woodside and Shirley Bigham, three special nephews- Paul Martin, Richard Martin and Allen Martin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers- Simon Martin, George Martin, Charles Martin, James Martin and Paul Martin, five sisters- Mary Surman, Regina Bruns, Theresa Mucha, Dorothy Holecek and Margaret Woodside.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at Noon Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Fr. Joseph Oganda officiating.

Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church on Thursday. The Rosary will be prayed at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to Masses, Autism Research or to the donors choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
