William E. Varnum
Mr. William E. "Bill" Varnum, of Nashville, Ill., departed this life at Friendship Manor Healthcare Center in Nashville, on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013 at 2:55 a.m. He had attained the age of 82 years and 28 days.
Mr. Varnum was born on Nov. 12, 1930 at St. John, Ill. the son of Clifford and Elizabeth (Davison) Varnum. He was united in marriage to Mary Tomarchio on June 27, 1953 in Angola, Ind. and she survives his passing.
William was a member of the United States Air Force for 27 years. He was also a member of the Nashville American Legion Post 110.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife Mary Varnum of Nashville, Ill.; three children, William Varnum and wife Jane of University City, Mo., Michael Varnum and his special friend Tracy Lanes of O'Fallon, Ill. and Judith Jorns and her husband John of Columbia, Ill.; five grandchildren Michael Varnum, Sarah Jorns, Ryan Varnum, Logan Jorns, Noah Jorns ; a brother, Gerald Varnum and wife Laura of Pickneyville, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Ann Binsfeld and husband Vincent of Warren, Mich. and Rose Comford of Clinton Township, Mich.; many nieces, nephews, other relations and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Stephen Varnum.
Per Bill's wishes, cremation was performed. Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, Ill. for a celebration of life on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. American Legion Post 110 will have a walk through at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
A graveside service will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo. at a later date.
Should friends desire memorials can be made to The Fisher House of St. Louis, Mo. or USO at Lambert Airport and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
