Gillis Street public housing altercation sent Du Quoin police officers to the hospital

A Louisville, Ky. man who was arrested several weeks ago for trespassing on Perry County Housing Authority property was arrested again last week.

And, he didn't go quietly.

Chief of Police Jamie Ellermeyer said the department got a call at 2:48 a.m. Wednesday from a neighbor who heard a girl screaming in a next door housing authority apartment. She called 911. Officer Lee Prince arrived to find suspect Lord A. Hall, 29, hiding under a bed. Hall resisted police with officer Prince falling down a flight of stairs. He was taken to Marshall Browning Hospital for stitches to close a cut. The suspect and Du Quoin officers McRoy and Beasley all got hit with the mace being used to control Hall and were medically checked, as well.

At this writing Hall is being charged with three counts of aggravated battery, resisting arrest and criminal trespass to property.

Police say the housing authority is renting apartments to out-of-the-area tenants they don't know which is making their job much harder. Many tenants are coming from upstate Illinois and surrounding states to apply.
