Du Quoin police remove 16 guns, cash, marijuana from Winters Street home

A North Winters Street man has been arrested on unlawful possession and delivery of cannabis.

During the execution of a search warrant, members of the Perry County Drug Task Force found marijuana, 16 guns and $495 in cash.

Chief of Police Jamie Ellermeyer explained that on Thursday, Dec. 12 at 12:07 p.m. the task force, Du Quoin police, the Perry County Sheriff's Department and Pinckneyville police executed a search warrant at the residence of William Koonce, 55, at 419 North Winters Street in Du Quoin.

Ellermeyer said the task force had received information that Koonce had been selling large amounts of cannabis for a lengthy period of time in Du Quoin from his residence.

Chief Ellermeyer said police served the search warrant. Koonce was arrested for unlawful delivery and possession of cannabis over 30 grams, but less than 500 grams.

Police also removed 16 guns, $495 cash and over five and a half ounces of cannabis (158 grams) from the residence. The marijuana charge is a Class 3 felony.

He was waiting for bond to be set on Friday.
