Fred L. Richards

Fred L. Richards, 88, of Tamaroa, passed away at 4:11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Fred was a retired mine construction welder at Taylor Brothers Machine Shop in Tamaroa.

He was of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of W.W. II.

Fred was born Feb. 21, 1925 in Calhoun County, Ill., the son of Delbert LeRoy and Ethel (Lewis) Richards.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother- Clarence Richards, three sisters- Helen Mitterholzer, Georgia Westfall and Jacqueline McCall.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin VFW and American Legion and the U.S. Navy.

Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
