James T. Atteberry

James T. Atteberry, 67, of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:57 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2014 at his residence.

Jim had worked for Du Quoin National Bank and First National Bank of Steeleville at the main branch and Percy branch. He had also worked for Star Trucking and retired from over-the-road trucking. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Du Quoin Masonic Lodge and the Tim Bell Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, where he also had served as Treasurer. He was an avid duck hunter and fisherman.

He was born May 24, 1946 at Harrisburg, Ill., the son of Charles H. and Imogene (Mick) Atteberry.

He married Judith A. Sheffield on June 17, 1967 at Evansville, Ind. and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, two children - Kevin Atteberry and wife Amy of Du Quoin and Stacy Caudle and husband Dean of Granite City, Ill., three grandchildren - Amanda Atteberry and Hunter Atteberry, both of Du Quoin, and John Caudle of Granite City, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Priest Dean Caudle officiating.

Masonic services will be at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Per Jim's request, cremation will be held after the services.

Friends may make memorials to the Tim Bell Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, American Cancer Society or the donor's choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
