Robbery Wednesday at Old National Bank in Murphysboro

The Murphysboro Police Department in concert with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department and Illinois State Police District 13 are investigating an armed robbery at Old National Bank, located at 1709 Walnut Street in Murphysboro. At approximately 12 noon on Wednesday, Jan. 29 a male entered the bank's lobby, displayed a handgun and demanded money.

The suspect fled with an unspecified amount of cash.

The three agencies all responded to the scene only moments after a 911 call.

Murphysboro Chief of Police Brian W. Hollo said the suspect is described as a male, 5'-7" to 5'-10" and 160-180 pounds. Because he was fully covered in a white hoodie with thin red and orange horizontal and vertical stripes, blue jeans and white tennis shoes his race and age cannot be confirmed.

He was last seen running southbound near the 200 block of South 17th Street.

No one was injured in the robbery.
