Ronnie Eugene Bird
Ronnie Eugene Bird, 69, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:51 a.m. Sunday, July 13, 2014 at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
Ronnie had worked at Emling's Restaurant in the kitchen and also was a night watchman for downtown stores. He was of the Baptist faith. Ronnie was a member of the Du Quoin Jaycees.
He was born July 21, 1944 at Du Quoin, Ill., the son of Lester Raymond and Hazel Belle (Thompson) Bird. He was raised by his mother and step father - Alva Keller.
He is survived by one sister - Bonnie Horner Branch and husband Charles 'Chuck' of Du Quoin, one brother - John R. Bird of Florida, one niece - Tina Horner and David Boling of Tamaroa, three nephews - Brian Horner and Tracy of Du Quoin, Paul Horner and Lory of Du Quoin and Carl Branch of Du Quoin.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, step-father, nephew - Mark Horner and great nephew - Jared Boling.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Hallidayboro Cemetery at Hallidayboro with Rev. Phillip White officiating.
Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
Burial will be in the Hallidayboro Cemetery at Hallidayboro.
Friends may make memorials to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
