Perry County clean-up days set for Aug. 1 -2

Solid Waste Coordinator Becky Tracy announced that Perry County clean-up days will be Aug. 1 and 2. Residents of Perry County may take unwanted items to the Perry Ridge Landfill free of charge from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday and from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Tracy reminds residents that only items normally accepted by the landfill will be accepted during the clean-up. Electronic waste must be disposed of elsewhere.

In other business, the board:

• passed a resolution extending the agreement with Select Energy Partners for 90 days beyond the March 2015 expiration to allow Select Energy to negotiate a new contract. A change in Ameren rates is anticipated. However, Select Energy hopes to keep the county's rate at or below what it is now.

• announced that a tentative agreement with the Laborer's Local 773 for clerical staff in the State's Attorney's office, government building and Highway Dept. has been received. The board plans to act on the contract at the next regular meeting.

• approved raffle licenses for the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the American Thresherman Association.
