Margaret Ann Harris

Margaret Ann Harris, 87, of Du Quoin, passed away at 4:19 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at her residence.

Margaret was a homemaker. She had worked at the Economy Store and Western Auto. Margaret was also a seamstress making wedding clothes. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Du Quoin.

She was born Aug. 19, 1926 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of George and Sarah (Hensley) Burbridge.

She married James Claude Harris on Oct. 20, 1946 at Tamaroa, Ill. and he preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 2006.

She is survived by two daughters - Lynn Vanetti and husband Russell of Salem, Ill. and Nancy Smith and husband Mark of Pinckneyville, three grandchildren - Gina Hug and husband Richard of Nashville, Lauren Helvey and husband David of Pinckneyville and Collin James Smith and wife Tavia of Cape Girardeau, Mo., three great grandchildren - Emily Hug of Nashville, Nichole Grzechowiak and husband Nathan of Ashley and Braelyn Helvey of Pinckneyville and one great great granddaughter - Madilynn Grzechowiak of Ashley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter - Sue Ellen Harris, two brothers - George Burbridge and Edward Burbridge and two sisters - Virginia Dunavan and Lora Rice.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Pastor Terry Brace officiating and Mark Smith delivering the eulogy.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to Celtic Hospice or the First Christian Church in Du Quoin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
