Harry L. Criswell

Harry L. Criswell, 71, of Elkville, passed away at 3:10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014 at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

Harry had been an over-the-road truck driver for Gilster Mary Lee. He had also been a mechanic and a driller for the coal mine. He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church in Du Quoin. Harry was a former Elkville Volunteer Fireman.

He was born Jan. 10, 1943 at Nokomis, Ill., the son of LeRoy Thomas and Dorcas Ione (Micenheimer) Criswell.

He married Media Eilene Watson on Oct. 18, 1962 at Elizabeth City, N.C. and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Elkville, two daughters - Lorie Lyn Davis and husband Bryant of Dowell and Patsy Jo Mitchell and husband Thomas of Elkville, his mother - Dorcas Criswell of Elkville, five grandchildren - Christopher Davis and wife Sharon of Corning, Ark., Matthew Davis and wife Erika of Dowell, Phillip Davis and wife Ashley of Dowell, Nicholas Mitchell and Jennifer VanZandt of Carterville and Noah Mitchell and Dalton Swafford of Elkville, seven great grandchildren - Freedom Davis, Jackson Davis, Lillyanna Davis, Aiden Mitchell, Liam Mitchell, Annalise Davis and Noella Davis.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Greg Pavloff and Rev. Lon McPherson officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Elkville Cemetery at Elkville.

Friends may make memorials to the Christian Fellowship School in Du Quoin and will be accepted at the funeral home.
