Linda Marie Baker

Linda Marie 'Minnie' Baker, 67, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9:50 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014 at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

Linda had worked as a nurse for many years at Pinckneyville Community Hospital in Pinckneyville. She was also a licensed EMT and had worked in Radiology. She had owned and operated LC.s Records and Tapes in Du Quoin and Main Street West Tanning Center in Du Quoin. Linda was also a branch manager for Sarah Coventry Jewelry. She was of the Catholic faith. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed taking care of everyone whenever possible.

She was born Oct. 23, 1946 at Pinckneyville, Ill., the daughter of Joseph Henry and Eva Marie (Bird) Ahlers.

She married James Carlyle 'Carlie' Baker on Feb. 15, 1962 at Perryville, Mo. and he survives.

She is survived by her husband of Du Quoin, her mother - Eva Ahlers of Du Quoin, one daughter - Robin (James) Bateman of Cambria, one son - Christopher (Toni) Baker of Du Quoin, two granddaughters - Amber (Issac) Saylor of Du Quoin and Christin (Steve) Young of Jellico, Tenn., two grandsons - Dustin (Kristy) Scronce of Du Quoin and Colton Baker of Du Quoin, seven great grandchildren - Erin, Danika and Korbin Scronce of Du Quoin, Dez and Demitri Young of Jellico, Tenn. and Raven and Owen Saylor of Bloomington, one aunt - Marcy Ballheimer of Missouri, several cousins, friends and her dog - Minnie.

She was preceded in death by her father, her maternal and paternal grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Fr. Joseph Oganda officiating.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

There will be no graveside service.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Perry County Humane Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
