Lucile M. Mason
Lucile M. Mason, 100, of Du Quoin, passed away at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
Lucile had been a homemaker. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, tatting and quilting. She was of the Methodist faith. Lucile had been a member of the Hope Rebekah Lodge 15 where she had served as Noble Grand and later became a member of the Past Noble Grands. She had also been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Du Quoin Study Club.
She was born on Aug. 8, 1914, in Oaklan City, Indiana, the daughter of John and Opha (Chandler) Miller.
Lucile married Robert E. Mason on Dec. 14, 1932 at Olney, Ill. and he preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 1997.
She is survived by one daughter, Helen Mason of Du Quoin and one son, Bill (Nadine) Mason of Du Quoin, six grandchildren- Kathy (Lybrand) Beard, Anita (Clyde) Gross and Michael (Donna) Mason, all of Du Quoin, Natalie (Stephen) Luyckx of Bloomfield, Michigan, Anita (Paul) Ferretti of Macomb, Michigan and Rachael (Bob) Brown of Troy, Michigan, 16 great grandchildren- Pamela (Eddie) Pursell, Derek (Tiffanie) Beard, Jonathon Mason, Matthew Mason, Elizabeth Gross, Samantha Gross, Connor Luyckx, Alexander Luyckx, Carmen Luyckx, Haley Ferretti, Ava Ferretti, Grace Ferretti, Lydia Ferretti, Adam Zaretti, Joel Zaretti and Julia Zaretti, three great great grandchildren- Addison Pursell, Edie Pursell and Bo Mason Beard.
Lucile was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter- Sharon Otten, three brothers- Elwood Miller, James Miller and Paul Miller.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Jarrett Wells officiating.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the American Diabetes Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
