Billy Dean Scarber
Billy Dean Scarber, 78, of Du Quoin, passed away at 11:15 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2014 at his residence.
Billy had been a groundman at Consolidated #4 Coal Mine. He was a member of the Liberty Church in Du Quoin. Billy was a member of the UMW of A and also had run a lawn service in Du Quoin for many years.
He was born July 3, 1936 at Du Quoin, Ill., the son of William and Dora (Gant) Scarber.
He married Dianna Teel on April 21, 1962 at Du Quoin, Ill. and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, four children - Janet Greenwood and husband Richard Scott of Greenville, Ill., Lyle Dean Scarber and wife Martine of Rood House, Ill., Jim Scarber and wife Angie of Du Quoin and Jason Scarber of Lawrenceville, Ill., eight grandchildren, two great grandsons, three brothers, four sisters, many nieces and nephews and a special friend - Rev. Michael Ice.
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven sisters.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014 at the Liberty Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Lon McPherson officiating.
Friends may make memorials to Celtic Hospice or American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
