Carroll Ray Bridges
Carroll Ray "Rocky" Bridges, 76, of Chester, Ill., passed away on at 2:55 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014 at his residence in Chester, Ill.
Rocky was born to Leslie and Thelma (nee Bramley) Bridges on April 7, 1938 in Du Quoin, Ill..
He married Ina L. King on Sept. 3, 1960 in Dowell, Ill.; she survives.
Rocky had been a teacher and coach at Woodlawn High School for six years and a teacher, coach and athletic director at Chester High School for 25 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Chester, Ill..
Survivors include his wife- Ina Bridges of Chester, Ill., mother- Thelma Bridges of Chester, Ill., two children- Scott (Julie) Bridges of Murphysboro, Ill. and Lee Ann (Bill) Spiller of Willisville, Ill., six grandchildren- Leslie Bridges, Candice Kennedy, Christopher Schwartz, Jason Schwartz, Westley Spiller and Andy (Natalie) Spiller, one great grandchild- Amelia Spiller, brother-in-law and sister-in-law and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father- Leslie Bridges.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014 at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, Ill., with Rev. Charles Allen officiating.
Visitation will be held Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, Ill.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin, Ill.
