Better than anticipated voter turn-out Tuesday; Newly elected take office Dec. 1

Perry County Clerk Josh Gross said early voting totals really picked up towards the end, reaching 1,200.

Overall, there were approximately 1,000 more voters than in the November election four years ago.

Gross said things went well and his team will learn from the few difficulties they faced to tweak things to make the April election run smoothly.

Tuesday's election means Mary Jane Craft will be the Perry County Treasurer and Steve Bareis will be the Sheriff, beginning Dec. 1.

Gross will work with Judge Campanella to arrange a swearing-in ceremony for the two new office holders. Date and time of the ceremony will be supplied later.
